During Preview Day, the microsystem will play a key role in the decisions that are being made by prospective students. Having the parents influence on Preview Day can guide them in a path for the next four years. For instance, what major the student chooses, or what financial aid benefit they receive. Parents are pivotal in seeking this information for their child. Preview Day is about the parents making many of the decisions for their child, and for many the last major life decisions. Transitioning them on to the next level. The students will be moving away from their macrosystem.
To determine the effectiveness of the event a survey will be provided. The survey will be incentive based, so there will be a higher percentage of participants. In order for us to improve certain aspects of our event we need to know what works and what does not. What they like about the day’s events, and information sessions. What were the key take away points that the students learned from the events? Did it change after the day, and if so what was the key point that stuck out? If not, what could be improved to enhance the day’s events.

To understand if Preview Day is working, self-assessment is essential. The first steps to make sure this takes place is understanding how the students see the event. Strayhorn (2011) stated it is to understand their academic and social experiences on campus, to highlight their challenges and many successes, and to attempt to build a portrait of who they are, where they enroll, and why they do so. (p. 36) . Taking a look at the results and data and using it to improve the ecological systems that different students come
