“Come in” said a voice from the speaker. Nervously, I entered into the ICU. After 5 long days, the doctor finally permitted for visitors. “Wash your hand and put these on.” Said the nurse as she handed me some pairs of glove and a sterilized gown. The nurse precedes to explained the physiological state of my sister’s condition. She was diagnosed with 3rd degree burn from her torso up and from her knee down. Through all the data and the doctor says she was making a steady recovery, a bacterial infection was manifesting within her. This infection caused her organs to shut down, resulting for a sudden operation. Despite all the efforts, she passed away. Losing her was devastating. For years, the vivid image of my sister wide awake lying on the bed, wrapped in white bandage from head to toes, showing only the fresh pink skin of her eyelids and the tips of her toes would haunt me. However, it was this very image and the many circumstance in my life that lead me to the field of Nursing.
Originally a pre-pharmacy student, my career interest began to shift as I witnessed the misuse of prescription drugs and the high price of pharmaceutical drugs. The pharmaceutical industry is not for me. As each patient passed through the pharmacy, I can see my sister’s situation in the eyes of some patients and their families. I grew eager to see the patient’s improvement in next fill date. This desire me towards the wide spectrum of roles a nurse can offer in patient

I am one who believes that advanced education can help improve patient care. In the future, I plan to continue to strive for higher education in the nursing field. I hope to utilize my knowledge to challenge my peers and to educate the younger generation. My overall goal is to provide advance care and developed a relationship with the patient. I hope to enter to a program that will train and prepared me for the diverse environment a nurse encounter
