As co-president, I get the opportunity to choose various service projects such as Feed the Hungry, Salvation Army, and Special Olympics. Volunteering with Feed the Hungry was one of the most pleasant experiences I’ve had as it allowed me to make a direct impact on the community-Ethiopia. We were given the opportunity to pack food that would be shipped off to the malnourished there. As a team, the other members and I packed over a thousand bags of food.…

When an employer or college is looking at an applicant’s resume, volunteering experience is a beneficial item to add, especially if it is a related field. Some people are just love to help out the community by volunteering. Many different volunteer programs are appealing to different people, like helping take care of puppies at the animal shelter for animal lovers, caring for a child at a children’s hospital if they are affectionate towards children, or serving a meal at a food kitchen for a chef or someone who is inspired to help the needy. I am called to a different group to volunteer with: the elderly. Each organization helps the elderly in different ways, but my favorite cause is that of Meals on Wheels.…

In the words of Benjamin Franklin, “Either write things worth reading, or do things worth the writing.” Whether inventing the first computer in 1946 or founding female empowerment organizations like Katlyn Grasso of GenHERation, Penn students, in class and after graduation, readily fulfill both challenges about which Franklin wrote. Through the encouragement of innovation and applied knowledge on campus, Penn students break into the real world with experience under their belt and a liberal education. I am excited to join this community of well-rounded inventors, testing the limits of my mind and learning to apply my education to lasting social problems. With its commitment purposeful applications of education, Penn is the only place I can imagine…

Similar to the ox, I am cautious, industrious, patient and honest. Additionally, I would characterize myself as someone who has integrity, persistence, and diligence.
