Pre K Observation

I have loved every moment spent at my site these past 8 weeks and look forward to the weeks ahead. I am observing at the first Pre-K in the district that I graduated from. The school and classroom is very welcoming, I have enjoyed getting to know all 16 of the children, seeing their shyness slip away and their personalities come out.

Being able to be apart of the children’s day once a week has taught me so much about how a public school is ran and especially the Pre-K. The teacher and Ed tech have shared so much insightful information with me about classrooms and working with 4 and 5 year olds. It has been interesting because the teacher is also still taking college classes for pre-k, even though she has taught for over 25 years. We

High prices and the smell of grease are the main characteristics of this place. The long faced workers dressed in red shirts with the logo on the front and long black pants, scraped greasy pans and washed dirty dishes. The identically dressed workers also answered phones, made pizzas and helped others at the front desk. The countless number of hungry customers poured in and out of the building. I saw red all over, red floors, red pizza boxes, red uniforms, red pizza sauce and red counters.…

Observation: Rise Program Physical Setting Rise is a beautiful facility. All of the windows looking into the classrooms and looking outside are my favorite because they provide light, openness, and a sense of connection throughout the whole building. The commons is also a great area. It is large and open for all of the kids to spread out and explore their surroundings, while engaging in gross motor activities, such as going down a slide, riding a tricycle, or jumping on a trampoline.…

Because of the upcoming science STTAR, my observation of Ms. de la Fuente’s fifth grade class this week was a little different than usual. The teachers switched classes from lunch until one thirty to better prepare the students for the test. In this way, they would learn the information through different teaching styles. This week’s task was about advice on the teaching profession. Some good advice was to stay organized and keep the students engaged.…

A significant opportunity in my life that has had a major impact on me is an organization called Kids Are Scientists Too. KAST is a student-run non-profit corporation that aims to inspire young scholars to be interested in science and learning through fun, interactive science experiments led by passionate teachers. I was one of those passionate teachers. When I first heard of KAST, I immediately knew that I could contribute to the organization. I applied to become the lead at an elementary school, and after I was deemed fit for the role, I was chosen as the lead of a local elementary school.…

Middle and High School Student Perceptions Regarding the Effectiveness of Teacher-Directed Bullying Interventions Introduction School bullying is an important topic in the field of primary education. It is a widely recognized problem for numerous school environments that poses potential detrimental effects if not properly addressed (Aluedse, 2006). Unfortunately, this issue is often shrouded by misinformation and a lack of understanding regarding the long-term impact bullying may produce. It can adversely affect the educational environment, not only for perpetrators, but for victims and witnesses (Casebeer, 2012). Regardless of the individual’s role, trauma may result from repeated occurrences (Carney, 2008).…

Alone in the school library of Mead High, the students being observed made interesting actions. The students here only ranged from 11th and 12th graders, as this took place during an off block, which are only available to upperclassmen. There were ten tables in the back of the library that students had the choice of. Many were only occupied by one or two students, thought they could hold four. This observation took place before lunch had occurred, but the library at Mead has signs saying, “No Eating Allowed Here.”…

I did my observations at E.W. Grove High School and William Blount High School. Something I found interesting was that both high schools have a night grade only school. The focus on having just a ninth grade program is to get all the students acquainted as a class and being in high school. Both high schools had students who lived on a farm and some that have never experienced farm life.…

Spending two and half hours in each classroom, I learned a great deal about early childhood education from ages birth through eight, and the effort and skills that it takes to create a stimulating learning environment. For my infant, toddler, and preschool observations, I spent my hours at the CCC Childcare Center located in our college while for my kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade observations, I spent my time at Casey Park Elementary School. During my observations at the CCC Childcare Center, I learned plenty about the methods and practices that go into early education before primary grades. The preschool classroom really stood out to me because the centers in the classroom were very open ended and filled with lots of manipulative for…

SEP #4 In my observation of a Kindergarten class, there were many different teaching methods used. The teacher used many visual aids, and example would be when she asked the students to draw a pig. She displayed a pig on the board that was drawn by a guest speaker, and the students were asked to replicate the drawing. The teacher I observed also used games to enhance the student’s learning.…
