A pre-existing condition is any condition a patient received treatment for prior to getting insurance. Some of these conditions are genetic and some are lifestyle choices. People with these conditions have a hard time paying for insurance. Insurance companies risk rate every potential customer by the use of a physical exam or a questionnaire. Depending on the physical exams or the way a person answer the questions can affect the outcome of their premium.
