Pre-Event Definitions

Host – A young child around the age of seven
Agent of Injury – falling of a bike and hitting their head on the pavement
Physical Environment- riding a bicycle in the neighborhood
Social Environment- The proper safety equipment , the proper way to ride a bike , a parent that could be present , and safe neighborhood to be able to ride a bicycle in ( meaning a sidewalk and being able to be visible by others in cars ).
Pre – Event (HOST)- the ability of the individual to be able to properly ride a bike and take the nessecary safety precuaitons such as a helmet .
Pre-Event ( Agent ) - Proper brakes , maintence of chains and the mechanics of the bicycle and making sure the safety precautions are being taking seriously.

The child went out without their parent and decided agaisnt wearing a helmet . The child then hits their head on the curb and is injured.
Event ( Agent)- The maintence of the bike was comprised by the stick because it jammed up the proper mechanisms causing the bike to topple over.
Event ( Physical Enviroment )-The roads were not cleared of debris that make it very difficult to ride a bicycle.
Event ( Social Enviroment) - The child's parents were not watching leaving the child in an unsafe enviroment and not knowing what had happened
Post Event ( Host ) The child hit their head . This means there is a high possiblity of a brain injury or a concussion . This is a serious matter . The child should be taken to the emergency room to get the proper diagnosis and care.
Post Event (Agent)- The bicycle was damaged and not longer could be used properly , Even though it was a tree brach .
Post Event ( Physical Enviroment ) The people in the neighborhood rush to the childs side and tried to ask as many questions as possible . These people tried to get the child to give a phone number but because of the head truma , they were not
