Pre-Calculus And AP Calculus

Decent Essays
I love challenging myself, to test my own limit. Therefore during my Sophomore year, I decided to take Pre-Calculus and AP Calculus at the same time. This was quite a bold move for myself, due to the fact that I would have to learn Pre-Calculus on my own in order to pass the class, and I was not a very good math student to start with. Both my Pre-Calculus teacher, and my Calculus teacher tried to discourage me from doing that. However, I was ready for the challenge and I was determined to make myself better at math. The work load I had to deal with was unimaginably arduous, as I had to learn Pre-Calculus as fast as I could. Even when little homework was given to me, I had to take that time to study and progress in Pre-Calculus. This abided me close to no time for any relaxing or any type of enjoyment. …show more content…

After taking Pre-Calculus and Calculus at the same time, Math became an ease. I began tutoring freshman students along with any of my friends who needed help on my own time. Through it all, I succeeded in taking Pre-Calculus and Calculus at the same time, and I prevailed with two A’s, along with improving my mathematics skills enough to tutor struggling

Teddy Roosevelt once said that nothing worth having comes easy. With this in mind, I have actively spent my high school years working to ensure that my success and achievements are fruits of hard work and perseverance, rather than sheer luck. These past four years, I have dedicated my young mind to absorbing the valuable knowledge that pools before me in my rigorous AP courses. In addition, I also invested a good portion of my time into my school’s band program. Although balancing academics and such a demanding extracurricular activity was difficult, I managed to find the time to also participate in very rewarding organizations such as National Honor Society, among others.…

I was unfamiliar with the process of choosing the order of courses that would transition me to graduation. As a result, I took several non-required courses, and I even took some of the needed courses, for my degree, out of order. Needless to say, I hit an academic wall that lasted five long semesters. It would have been easier for me to change majors for the sake of graduation, but being in such a predicament only sharpened my perseverance and molded my determination. While these academic complications seemed unbearable at the time, my senior year turned out to be my most challenging year.…
