Og Mandino once said “Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough.” This is not true. It is a great motivational statement, and it will work for some events. A Pre-Algebra SOL is a great example. You can study for months and you will ace it.
But, say you were playing baseball and you said that you could hit a longer home run than Aaron Judge, one of the best home-run hitters in the league, while Luis Severino, star pitcher for the New York Yankees was pitching. You are not in the MLB (Major League Baseball). You could be completely determined, and you could try as many times as you want, but you will not hit a ball farther than Aaron Judge while a ninety mile per hour slider is coming at you.

The reason you're failing is because of the way you tend to perceive the outlook on life. Have you ever been praised as a child? ; saying for example “you're so smart since you got an A at math” and feel as if you're only good at certain subjects throughout life and the thought of ever failing is demoralizing to you, you’re known to have a fixed mindset. Opposite of that if you tend to believe that working hard as an individual will lead you to success and setbacks are temporary, you have a growth mindset. Now you’re probably thinking at this point why do these mindsets determine the choices we make in life and how well succeed or fail in life, and how do we develop these mindsets in the first place, a controversial answer to that is how…

American Jazz legend Duke Ellington once said, “A problem is a chance for you to do your best”. What he means by this is that if you have a situation that is difficult for you, you should try your hardest to solve it. I agree with this quote because I believe that you should try your hardest anytime, especially when you have a difficult situation because that is when it counts the most. For example, when you know a big test is coming up, and you do not know if you are going to pass it or not you should study for it every night even if you do not like studying, you should do your best in the hardest situation.…

Not passing my AP World History test was an event from the past year in which I felt that I had failed. I felt overly confident about passing the test that I put minimal effort into preparing for it. The test was not difficult to pass, but I spend so little time on practice tests that I panicked when it was time to take it. After my disappointing results, I have to start taking all my classes seriously and put in more effort in achieving my goals. I am practicing and studying ahead for any test that I have to take.…

Everyone has a different perspective and interpretation about failure. Some people see failure as an unpleasant thing or a limitation of their capabilities, while others see failure as a learning opportunity or a guide on how to become better. For example, in the article, “Want to Get Into College? Learn to Fail,” the author, Angel B. Perez, implies that failure should not be feared because it is not as harmful as most people think it is. He points out that failure is necessary if we want to succeed in college and in life.…

In the quote by Christopher Columbus he states “By prevailing over all obstacles and distractions, one may unfailingly arrive at his chosen goal or destination” I thought this quote pertained to me because I know this year there are going to be many obstacles in English class, but if I just push myself I know I can reach my goal. As a reader and writer, I believe that I have grown stronger over the years. In the past, I did not like reading at all I would try to get by with reading as little of the stories as possible in order to pass. I felt this way until this summer when I started to read the books for English.…

Throughout the duration of my academic career I have heard most of my teachers utter this phrase “Just because you’re struggling doesn’t mean that you are failing”. This phrase can be applied to many situations in our everyday lives, and can especially be applied within the field of business. What this phrase means is that in order to be successful you have to struggle and work hard for it. So it only makes sense that in order to have a successful business you must work hard and never give…

When reading Chapter 2 of the book The 5 Elements of Effective Thinking by Edward B. Burger and Michael Starbird, there were several fascinating concepts that I had not considered before. Probably the most potent statement that the authors made that I had not heard of before is when they emphasize the importance of failure over idling when solving a problem that you have no idea how to approach. They propose, “When you're stuck, and you don't know what to do, don't do nothing-instead, fail. Making a specific mistake puts you in a different and better position than you were in before you started. And it's a forward step you know you can actually take.”…

Everyone learns and studies differently so in order to really succeed you must find what works for you, and how to keep everything in order. It took me forever to really understand I needed to find my own organization and study tactics. Along with organization the need to use my failures to rise up in my classes really led me to maintain high grades. In my edblog “Failure” I discuss the troubles of failure and how to use it to construct a foundation for school. I find I learn more from failures than excelling grades, because it shows that not everything can be handed to you and that I needed to step up, change what I had been doing, and learn new things in order to help me succeed.…
