Every body builder knows there are just three primary exercises to gain size and strength. Squat, dead lift and bench press. Do these three consistently and you'll gain size and strength.

Building a relationship with God is much the same. There are really just three major components to building a relationship with God: Prayer, Bible study and Church.

#1- Prayer... Prayer is communication with God. Every relationship is built on communication. When relationships do not have good communication the relationship begins to deteriorate. So talking to God and learning to listen to God is important. Some people say, well I pray all the time. Great! But at least once a day set aside some time to talk to God- alone. The Bible says that Jesus often went alone to places for prayer. I'm a big believer in journaling my prayers. The simple process of writing often slows us down enough to listen as well as to think about what we are saying. What should I pray about? Jesus gave us a good outline at Matthew 6:9-13. Note: It's an outline for what to pray about- not an actual prayer to pray.

Believers are not created to be in isolation but to be connected to one another through small-group fellowships as well as in a large congregation, doing so allows church members to come together and experience a deeper connection with each other and most importantly with God. Further, as believers, we are all called to have the mind of Christ. The mind of Christ is so much more than the way we think, but the essence of who we are within our heart and personality. We are called to be spontaneous and unique within ourselves, and to resist predictability and regulation of society and the increased use of machines. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are the biblical structure for what is essential to Christian…

The Bible gives clear guidance on how to be involved in relationships. It shows us not only how we are to act with one another, but also how to have a relationship with Christ. Our first acts of a relationship are found in Mark 12:30, “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your mind and with all your strength”. We are to put Him first above all else. Unfortunately, God gets put to the side and we wonder why our lives are in so much chaos.…

Prayer would be the key for Danielle because it is one of ways to communicating with God and it also establishes a relationship with Him as well. Prayer opens doors for God to act and work. The scripture I have chosen is 1 Samuel 1:10-11 to prove my statement. It reads as follows; “and she was in bitterness of soul and prayed unto the Lord, and she wept bitterly. And she vowed a vow and said, O Lord of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your hand maid and remember me and not forget your hand maid, but will give unto her a male child, then I will give him unto you all the days of his life and there no razor come upon his head.”…

RARELY has obedience laid upon me so difficult a task as this of writing about prayer; for one reason, because I do not feel that God has given me either the power or the desire for it, besides which, during the last three months I have suffered from noises and a great weakness in my head that have made it painful for me to write even on necessary business. However, as I know the power obedience has of making things easy which seem impossible, my will submits with a good grace, although nature seems greatly distressed, for God has not given me such strength as to bear, without repugnance, the constant struggle against illness while performing many different duties. May He, Who has helped me in other more difficult matters, aid me with His grace…

I looked for and found spaces where we pray in quiet to hear our own God answer. And now I have come to a season in which we encourage each other to come into the quiet and the rest and peace it brings. But I noticed something else in the quiet that evening. Perhaps because I had just returned from a trip back home, I realized that my quiet does not belong to me.…

Screwtape tells Wormwood that it is essential to keep the Christian from praying at all to God. “The best thing, where it is possible, is to keep the patient from the serious intention of praying altogether,” (Lewis, 1942). We should be praying everyday, and thanking God for everything that He has done for us. “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods, for his steadfast love endures forever.…

Therefore, private prayer should be focused more on quality time spent in prayer with our Father. A Christian should pick a time that is more feasible to him. Several studies have been presented that show a correlation between prayer and relationships. Research has found that not only does the person being prayed for receive aid but so does the person that is doing the praying. There have been test conducted that suggests there is an indirect effect involving the people who are praying for others. Researchers unexpectedly found that there was an increases in hope, forgiveness, and trustingness being found in the supplicant (Finchanm). The examiners were not expecting to find anything dealing with or happening to the person praying.…

It is great to step back and reflect, on my day, to see where I was allowing God to work in me and where I was preventing God from working in me. Through this process I am able to see patterns in my life, to thank God for the good and to ask for his forgiveness and his help for the not so good. This has become an integral part of my daily prayer. My second introduction to Ignatian Spirituality was during a series of Men’s group meetings where Father Kevin guided us in an Imaginative prayer exercise using the Gospels.…
