Prayer is a great way to meet new people and expand your social groups. It’s something that others share a passion for and by taking it away from children, they lose the chance to do so. “I can’t pray with my teammates before a football game anymore.” Justin Trunkhill said. He used to pray before each football game with his teammates, and with the ban against prayer on school grounds, he is unable to do that anymore. Prayer is a way that brought Justin’s teammates together before the “big game” and unified them. They cannot do that, nor can they pray with their coach, since he is a “school and government employee.” All school personnel cannot do anything religion related with their students and are forbidden to use the word God in classes. All religious groups are also banned, since it could be considered, pushing your religion onto another person. Sarah Miles, a Junior from South Polk High School says “ I used to have a large group come and pray with me every morning in the lunchroom. I got to know people I didn’t know before. But with the ban on prayer I have lost that connection with them.” She and many others, have lost the one thing that has bound them to another. Prayer is a good way to connect students and keep them in touch. How are you supposed to do that outside of school if you don’t even know
