The United States Constitution, plays a huge roll in the ban of prayer in public schools. Prayer in schools, violates the constitution. Prayer in public schools, violates your constitutional right to practice the religon of your choice. In the constitution, it says that the government can not favor one religion, and that would be the same for schools having one form of prayer. The first amendment states, “Congress shall make no law respecting and establishmet of religon; or the free exercize there of”. Forced prayer can end up establishing a religon. Prayer in school was voluntary. Although in public schools, prayer was voulantary, the people of other religons still had to hear the prayer. No matter how many schools chose to say that it was voulantary, it never really was. What can the student really do about having to hear the prayer, go in the hall? Its not right for kids to be preached too. Prayer in schools was another way for adults to preach to kids.In short, when the teachers prayed/preached, they were almost telling the kids what to believe. Its a natural right to chose what to believe and if a person want to be preached to, there is always church. With prayer in school, students could feel singled out. Yet another reason prayer was banned was because they didnt always do a prayer for the other religons. That mean other religons such as: buddists, hindus, or even athiests, could feel singled out.
