This supernatural and suspenseful plot creates a successful beginning to an original series. However, one thing that can irk the audience is the over-dramatization of Prairie. If anything, Prairie is overly mysterious, and without knowing further context, this could quickly become boring as the unknown drags on. The fact that she also “touches” many people’s lives and changes them also provokes questioning of the audience of her true capabilities (in which, spoiler alert: she never explains at the end of the season). Also, Steve’s character and his indecency could also make viewers feel unsympathetic towards him, even if his vulnerability is shown. However, the way OA tells her story and carries herself makes her a very hard character to empathize with, much less believe her tale. The episode does seem scattered, and we are given no background on any characters, the kidnapping, and who the protagonist and antagonists are. This may be intentionally of the the producers, but it can certainly be seen from the audience as extremely confusing to watch at some points. With flaws here and there, the OA seems like a promising show so far, with a potential for a unique story plot and character
