Practicum Personal Statement Examples

My experiences throughout the time of my volunteer practicum gave me an overall positive experience by developing my knowledge, skills, and abilities in adapting physical activity programs for those with varying abilities. In addition I learned valuable lessons and strategies for improving physical activity, and the importance of inclusion. Reflecting back this is essential moving forward in to my career, as it serves as a tool kit to resolve problems or create solutions I may encounter. Furthermore the friends, and contacts I made from the club will continue to grow and inspire me in my practices, allowing me to grow and develop further in my understanding of abilities, rather than disabilities. This helped me improve my knowledge, skills, and abilities to develop strategies in implementing activities by learning the barriers and facilitators to participation. This however required gaining a different perception and awareness through the way I think, feel, and behave. Through experiencing firsthand the difficulties individuals with disabilities face helped me understand what it takes to create accessible programming. In addition I also learned a variety of information about different disabilities, and how to approach them with a person first approach. This not only impacted my learning, but how I apply myself in these situations in my future profession. While I believe this is a good start, I still can improve my delivery of these methods, as it is a constantly growing lesson of innovation, and adaption. This experience has also lead me to discover the population I wish to work with, as it has inspired me to apply my knowledge and use it to improve the life’s of others.
