Practical Nursing Goals

I am choosing nursing not only as my program of study, but my profession as well. I have always had a strong desire and passion to help those in need. It also gives me great pleasure to know that I am able to help someone just because I care. For example, when I was four years old I saved a two-year-old child that had fallen in the pool and was drowning; no one at the pool realized this child had fallen in, except me. It was natural instinct for me, save this child! I was able to swim the girl to the steps and carry her part way out when someone realized what was going on. The girl turned out to be okay, thankfully. From that day on, I was bound and determined that I was going to help people when I grew up. I started working in a nursing …show more content…
Completing the Practical Nursing program is important to me because I feel it will improve my skills at becoming a better Registered Nurse. Practical Nursing allows you to learn more about medications and dispersing the correct amount. I feel that Practical Nursing sets the stage for a Registered Nurse. I have always wanted to be a Registered Nurse as well. After completing these two short term goal, I am going to pursue on and reach my long term goals which are, getting my BSN in nursing, start my own assisted living, and finally become a traveling nurse. The first long term goal that I am going to work on is getting my BSN in nursing. Having your BSN in nursing opens so many endless possibilities and opportunities to help those in need. After obtaining my BSN in nursing, I would like to open my own assisted living. This has been a goal of mine ever since I met a retired Registered Nurse who was so gracious to open her house to people that were in need. This retired Registered Nurse truly inspired me to strive for greatness. The last goal that I have is to become a traveling nurse because it is something that I have dreamed about since I was a little girl. When I reach my former goals, and my kids are grown and well established I will become a traveling nurse just like I have always
