Poverty is a problem that no one has yet to find a solution to end and has had a negative effect on the lives of those living in under developed communities. Women have become radical forces of change, battling the inequality between gender roles in their own respective culture. Women are realizing that education is the basis of breaking out of this battle. Poverty alleviation through entrepreneurship is a key tool that can aid in building a stronger global economy. This paper takes a look at some organizations who have addressed poverty alleviation strategies through micro – lending and education focusing and targeting women in undeveloped communities.

Women in Latin America suffer from mistreatment and respect from men due to the way their culture has set women to be seen. Girls in these countries are taught to think with a mentality that their purpose in the world is to serve men and become a housewife. Little girls from the moment they can reach the stove they are trained to cook, clean and take care of others. This cultural custom in has caused a big gender role issue and women are viewed as helpless and weak without men in their lives.
Many organizations have taken the initiative to create opportunities for women with the goal to alleviate poverty. One strategy to alleviate poverty is through the promotion of employment to women. Women are now able to earn an income through the French bean project and has led to the creation of The Women’s Producers Association, where IFAD has proudly donated a new irrigation system to jump start their business. The new irrigation system has given them the means to grow their own beans with the hopes of exporting coffee for their own profits. Women are hoping to grow their own food crops to better their income and provide groceries to their families.
