The power struggles that occurred between Jack and Ralph had their own outcomes. Jack strongly desired to be the group leader. However, he lacked the abilities and qualities that would be able to make him a strong and efficient leader that would rule the others in an effective manner. Ralph, on the other hand, was the one that the other boys desired to have as their leader. He possessed several talents and abilities that would have been able to make him an efficient and effective leader, as well the knowledge that was needed in order for survival throughout the island. Despite the personality and qualities of each, power struggles between the two emerged, resulting in a period of conflict. This aspect of the novel benefitted the civilization
