The theses of the TED talk “The power of vulnerability”, by Brené Brown , is that we all struggle with vulnerability in our lives; we fail to truly express ourselves and allow ourselves to be deeply seen, for the fear of not being accepted. But it is when we can truly accept who we are, and recognize our worth, that we can finally embrace vulnerability. Brown uses a humorous and an intimate tone in her Ted talk, to point out her struggle with vulnerability. These two tones are visible when Brown gets personal about her struggle with vulnerability, leading her to go see a therapist as she had a “breakdown”, but as intimate as she gets about her life, she still has a very humorous tone, keeping the audience entertained at the same time.…

As a management major and someone who is passionate about becoming an effective manager, it was first necessary to compile a list of principles I wish to carry with me. The matrix I have created for myself comes from two places, first my management courses and second my actual experience under several different managers. Through my coursework at A&M I have learned what motivates others and where I fall in those categories, and how to make the two coincide better. In my work experience I have been under very successful and very unsuccessful managers, who have both provided me with insight on what to do and what not to do. The personal philosophy I have created is a combination of the items that have stuck out at me in classes, as well as what…

When I was thinking through all these revolutionary processes of an organization, so many concepts came out from my mind. Not only purpose, communication, power, value, accountability, and hierarchy I mentioned in this essay, but also those not mentioned such as cross function structure, competency trap, culture, and bureaucracy, especially. I still remember that professor said that "From decades to decades, voice, which states bureaucracy should be get rid of, is everywhere; however, it still exists" during the discussion of bureaucracy must die. I think that the appearance or hierarchy in the development of my organization design somehow shows the answer. Either hierarchy or bureaucracy, it exists for a reason.…

Group Decision Making Sound decision making is an integral part of the overall success of any organization. While the leader of the organization has the final say in the overall decision making process, group decision making can generate a more complete solution to a problem by aggregating the resources of several individuals. This offers increased diversity of ideas and opens the door for more potential solutions to a problem to be considered, thereby leading to a greater sense of acceptance of the chosen solution by members of the organization (Robbins & Judge, 2009). While group decision making can lead to more favorable outcomes, it is not a perfect process.…
