The Power of Positive Thinking To begin with, the “Hatchet” and the “Juvenile justice program teaches boys life lessons and accountability”have many things in common. These have more things in common because, both of those people always thought that they will never make it alive or forward with life. This novel and article have the same theme in common, the power of positive thinking. The novel Hatchet written by Gary Paulsen, is where the story contains a realist story with the main character Brain, he is traveling to go see his father. When suddenly the pilot had a fatal heart attack the, “pilot had spoken only five words to him. "Get in the copilot's seat." Which Brian had done”(Chapter 1). Brian has to take over the wheel and lands in a lake, when he gets onto the lake he couldn't save the pilot he at least had to make a shelter and a fire he could barely even save himself. He makes to the top gasping for air from under the water. In the book it describes that he thinks he could have never make it out alive, that no one could see him or the plane from the lake.
