Power is Controlling
Abraham Lincoln once said “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.” We must all learn to control ourselves when given power. In the novel Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck uses characterization to portray how having power or being powerless can cause people to be more confident and aggressive or shy and worried.
In some instances power is used to put yourself above people and treat them poorly. This is used by many characters throughout the book. Steinbeck uses certain characters to symbolize the negative use of power. For example in Steinbeck's novel when Curley's wife threatens, “You know what i can do to you
