The prince of Verona has huge power over his citizens which effects Romeo and Juliet’s relationship together and Juliet’s parents hold such strong power over her, her decisions and her relationships it drives her to take drastic measures in order to take her life back. The Prince had the power to order the guards to stop fighting and when Romeo is found guilty of killing Tybalt the prince of Verona sends him into exile. The prince says “and for that offence immediately we do exile him hence (III,ii, 181).” No one but the prince would have the power to exile Romeo and it makes a huge change in his life. Juliet’s father holds lot of parental power of her. He makes huge life decisions for her by forcing her to marry Paris. He says “unworthy as she is, that we have wrought so worthy a gentleman to be her bride (III,V,148).” The powers staked against these two characters cause them to think irrationally and ultimately causes there death.
