In the play A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry tells the story of a lower- class black family trying to break through the poverty line and become a middle class family. Furthermore Mama is waiting for a $10,000 check from her husband's insurance policy and the whole family has an idea of what to do with the money. Mama clearly holds the power through majority of the play it's clear that she makes all final decision on what is done with the money in the household.
