The dimension of power distance in Hofstede’s cultural framework deals with the fact that all individuals in societies are not equal, and tests countries to see how a society handles inequality among their people.
Bhutan has a higher level of power distance in comparison to Japan. Bhutan is run by a traditional regime with authoritarian attributes. They follow a strict traditional caste system, which governs the way their hierarchical society operates. This was seen in the video where poorer people were found working in the fields and wealthier people were living in the city. Bhutan has a higher level of power distance because its people accept the hierarchical society they live in and are rather happy to do so. Following their country motto
