Power Corrupts In Animal Farm By George Orwell

George Orwell believed in using axioms (a statement or proposition that is regarded as being established, accepted, or self-evidently true), in order to prove or describe a point he has made. One axiom in perticular that Orwell has used is as follows, “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” This statement is accurate because there are many examples throughout the history of the world (some even being fictional) that prove it to be so. For example, in George Orwell’s book, Animal Farm, he uses Napolean to illistrate his point. Comrade Napoleon’s original goal was to create a farm run by Animals that was successful and prosperous. He took over Mr. Jones’s spot as the leader of the farm and he contolled everyone and everything

To begin with, the first sighting of the lack of education the animals posses is when Napoleon starts to control them. The animals were so absent minded to realize that Napoleon was building a pyramid, and placing everyone below him. For example, in the novel, it states “Napoleon denounced such ideas as contrary to the spirit of Animalism. The true happiness he said , lay in hard work and living frugally,” (Chapter 10, Pg 107). With this action taking place, it shows that Napoleon took advantage of the dictatorship and used it to his own well being instead of properly leading them.…

Imagine if you were stuck, working your heart out in hot, cold, and rainy weather under the leadership of a bunch of snotty pigs. Well this is the setting that the barn animals have to deal with in the book, Animal Farm, by George Orwell. But if they had a system to help them, they might have had a better life. The system of checks and balances found in the US constitution would have helped Animal Farm eliminate Napoleon’s abuse of power by deciding if any laws are fair, by enforcing those laws that are fair, and by impeaching any unfair presidents/leaders. First of all, deciding if laws created by the Animal Farm are fair would have helped eliminate the pig’s abuse of power.…
