Power And Responsibility In Cathedral

Not only do the rich and famous struggle with the relationship between power and responsibility, but in fact we all do. Each and every one of us have a certain level of power we posses and level of responsibility to control. In the film Doubt (2008), Sister Aloysius is the principal of the Parrish and she has the power to discipline and the responsibility to look after each and every child as well as the other nuns. In the reading selection Cathedral, the husband feels like he has the power over Robert who is blind because of his disability. Today, Donald Trump feels like he has the power to do and say whatever he wants because he is very wealthy. We must learn to balance our power and responsibility duties. In the beginning of the film Doubt (2008), Father Flynn gave a sermon about doubts. We learn from that sermon that Father Flynn has a special relationship with the only black student who attends the school and also happens to be a boy, Donald Miller.
