I was able to see a strong women enable herself to leave a harmful situation and prosper by making a better life for herself and her family. It is apparent that abuse not only affects the person being abused but those who witness the situations. Kim Mosher the mother included that she was able to see some of his actions mimicked by them. This particular video only illustrated a part of what issues we have in America regarding domestic violence. The title of the video had a few meanings to me it depicted

In "Why Domestic Violence Victims Don't Leave," Leslie Morgan Steiner described her personal story as a survivor of domestic violence. As a twenty-two year old Harvard graduate working for a Fortune 500 company, Steiner's boyfriend held a gun to her head and threatened to kill her. Yet, she remained in the relationship because she felt she was a "strong woman who could help him face his demons" from abuse at the hands of his stepfather. Eventually, she left the abusive and dangerous relationship. Not having exposure to domestic violence, Steiner's messages educated me on the facts of the issue and faces of the victims.…

By using empirical evidence and statistics, she validates her claim that domestic violence, in fact, can affect anyone at any time and this abuse happens where someone might least expect it. One in seven women, one in five teenagers, and one and eighteen men have experienced some type of domestic violence in their lifetime. Either it is through fear, harm, or even the threat of death to the victim in the relationship. Domestic violence is a cycle that begins with trust or love, and then turns the victim to isolating one selves, and…

Intimate partner violence cast such a large net over our society. This is what struck by most in the power and control documentary and the Ted Talk. Intimate partner violence cuts across all backgrounds and seriocomic classes and can affect anyone no matter their status. The aspect of both the Ted Talk and the documentary I found most striking was how almost all intimate partner violence fallows the same pattern from the background of the abuser to the tactics of power and control they employ which then cycle back to impacting their children. In both the documentary and the Ted talk the background of the abusers seemed to be very similar.…

The presentation was defiantly pathos because it was very much about the emotional impact of Domestic Violence. It is in the Rogerian style due to the fact that the opponent is wrong and then she gives facts. One rebuttal to the argument is it is a woman and the man has as much power of his woman as he wants to, the woman is lesser than him. I think the audience for which this would be most effective is with anyone over the age of 14 because that is usually when people start having romantic relationships so it will stop the violence in those…

Let’s be honest here; no one likes hearing the wails of bruised and battered women over the television. Why? Because we can all agree that domestic abuse is a tragedy, makes everyone feel uncomfortable,is a dark and disturbing topic, brings down the mood of the environment, and is now appearing in the media more often. Now, this is the part where I usually hear, ‘But it’s underreported! Not only that, domestic violence counts for fifty percent of all ‘hates crimes’ against women, too, doesn’t it!’…

Great topic! Domestic violence is becoming more and more common, but you are correct, so many cases go unreported. What I find strange is how a domestic call can go bad so quick when the police are called out. There are so many factors to case for the victim, like where am I going to go, what about the kids, and where do I come up with income now. One thing you might look at is if there is any type of pattern, if the victim or suspect comes from a domestic violence type background as an adolescence.…
