From the documentary video, “Poverty of American Children” could be identified as the theme better explained the subject of Interest. Poverty, redundancy, absence of education, Depression, insufficient food and health insurance are the basic issues discussed in the documentary. Stats of sixty thousand bankrupts in Iowa last year with the economy declining, Increasing number of homeless people because of house rent. A record of sixteen million kids affected. One out of twelve Americans are jobless and Middle-income families lose their homes. The conflict present in this documentary is ‘Man vs. Society’. Man vs. Society conflicts are where victims of poverty are put against the lavish ways of the entire society. The less fortunate are left to struggle to cope with an expensive society and then are termed as a social minority. From my perspective Sarah has experienced the harshest out of the five interviewed. Her mum lost her job and they live in a one room apartment which is cramped because of materials taking up space leaving Sarah, her mum and her sister to reside to corners of the room. They have pursued their desire to move into larger accommodation which unfortunately for them has not materialized. This has resulted in loss of hope and going back to apply for a spot back at the shelter. Sarah lives in a part of San Francisco known as the Tenderloin which is known for drugs dealers, violence and homelessness. she doesn’t go out on the street a lot to ensure her safety. She has learned how to defend herself against miscreants. Her education is also suffering. I recognize her the most because of the situation she found herself in and her willingness to live a better
