Hunger/Poverty has always been a serious topic and problem for many countries throughout thousands years of human history. According to FAO, in 2014 to 2016, more than 790 million people in the world live in poverty and starve, so it means in nine people have one person lives in hunger. By the statistic of FAO in 2015, “Poor nutrition causes nearly half (45%) of deaths in children under five - 3.1 million children each year,” and “Asia is the continent with the most hungry people - two thirds of the total. The percentage in southern Asia has fallen in recent years but in western Asia it has increased slightly.” Such as, India is 194.6 million people (15.2%), China is 133.8 million (9.3%), Democratic People 's Republic of Korea is 10.5 million (41.6%), and many countries in the world. Therefore, poverty reduction is one of many important goals of almost countries in the world today. Also, people create a lot of programs or donate websites to help the poor because they need a lot of help from other people, who have good situation than themselves. However, we have two opposite ideas that should we help the poor or do nothing. Represent for two different and opposing approaches are Garrett Hardin’s “Lifeboat Ethics: The Case Against Helping the Poor” and Peter Singer’s “The Singer Solution To World Poverty.” Garret Hardin’s opinion is we should not do anything to help the hunger, and Peter Singer’s opinion is we should help them no matter the cost.
