Located on the other side of the Atlantic, Kenya struggles with erratic weather patterns and high rates of growth in population. About 51% of Kenya’s population today lives in poverty(answer Africa 2013). Kenya’s rural economy depends on farming. These farmer’s entirely depend on rain, which is not very common in this particular country. Kenya has also one of the most highest population growth in the world. Having such a large and increasing population causes Kenya’s rate of poverty to rise. This implies major pressure on little of it’s resources available(Global change umich). Adding on, Kenya’s struggle to access to school and to clean drinking water. Based on water.org only 59% of the country’s population have acess to safe water and only 32% have acess to improved sanitation. Water shortage forces large number of women and children to spend a third of their day out looking for the nearest fresh water sources. The picture on top of page appendix A clearly demonstrates water quality in this country simply by it’s transparence. Water, sanitation and hygiene is the main cause of hospitalization in Kenya. Now talking about access to school. Approximately half of the country 's population is composed of children and young people. The cost for a day at school is 1,88$ CAD making it difficult for some miserable kenyan families.
