Is there a solution to poverty? If there was why are we still faced with it everyday around the world. Nearly half of the worlds population is living in poverty. More than 3 billion people live on less than 2.50$ a day, more than 1.3 billion live in extreme poverty which is living off of less than $1.25 a day. Lastly there is more than 1 billion children world wide living in poverty and according to UNICEF approximately 22,000 children die each day do to living in poverty. That is looking at poverty with a big lens, focusing now just on Canada and seeing if there is a solution to poverty is still very difficult but we can help change. To decrease the number of people in Canada living in poverty we either need to find a away to increase the income of the people living below the poverty line or decrease the poverty line it self. Some could argue that there is no solution to poverty but we can certainly help the situation if it long-term or short-term every bit of help counts. One example of helping end poverty is increasing tax on certain things. Access to health care is another factor that would greatly benefit with people living in poverty. Lastly, education, even though in Canada the statistics are pretty good in post secondary education there are still pockets that need our attention to help. Education is a major part that would contribute to decreasing the rate of poverty in Canada. Canada does fairly well with the statistics of post secondary school education but there are still certain areas in Canada that need need our attention for example the aboriginal high school dropout rate is four times higher than our countries average. If we begin to decrease the drop out rate in both normal and aboriginal high schools. If we improve the early childhood learning as well as the literacy rate within Canada it will improve the skill set of the new generation which will reflect with the job market creating more jobs and having the right skills for those jobs creating more people with jobs and less people in
