There were attempts to fix this gap through “the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, which was passed in 1965”(Duncan); this act was created to help fund schools that have students that come from low-income families. These schools are considered Title One schools. With attempts to help the Title One schools by funding, that isn’t the only thing that the schools and the students need. The funding will help the schools, but the root of this problem comes from student’s race, economic status and lifestyles.
