The United States is a democratic country known for its wealth, strong work ethic, and social mobility. Yet, poverty is one of the most prevalent and persistent social problems in the U.S. Many communities are poverty stricken, and don’t realize the effects it can have on their social mobility. Poverty is the state of having little to no money, goods, or means of support. Absolute poverty is the deprivation of basic human needs such as food, water, shelter, sanitation, and clothing. Poverty is considered unavoidable as population and standard of living is constantly changing.
