The strengths of this essay as related to the course objective include defining the terms of poverty, hunger, and homelessness in America. Poverty means having inadequate income to provide the food, shelter, and clothing needed to preserve good health. Hunger means not knowing where your next meal will be coming from or being food insecure. Homelessness is justifiably unable to acquire, maintain regular, safe, secure, and adequate housing. Explain what it means to live below the poverty line, respectively meaning not having enough to feed and clothe a family. Identifying the essentials for a minimum standard of living in terms of food, shelter, social resources, and connections with society. Defining how does poverty affect these essentials.

The causes of hunger and poverty normally occur around insufficient income due to low wages and cost of living expenses. The link between poverty, hunger, homelessness, and joblessness are connected to a person all at the same time. When an individual experiences poverty, they also experience hunger, the working poor which leads to homelessness and eventually joblessness. Resembling how the “look” of hunger and homelessness differ from group to group while also describing the “faces” of hunger and homelessness. The look of hunger differs depending on the situation such as, income inequality and food deserts. The look of homelessness is often resorted to people who lack affordable housing, such as veterans who have injuries or post-traumatic stress.
