Have you ever wondered what has a major impact on your everyday life without you ever realizing it? Well, one answer to that question would be technology. Technology is in your life every day and affects you in many ways. Just imagine what this world would be like without technology. There would be no social media, and no advancement of cars. Without technology, this world wouldn’t be able to function. Society now relies too much on technology.
Postman’s essay is a good way to show how much technology impacts the world. He states that technology is a good, but it has more uses than just for entertainment (Postman 355-366). Society sees the news, like as fast as a wildfire spreads in a forest of dead dry trees. A scene that brings up this issue, is when Simon says that, “the war is unforeseeable.” It shows that the invention of the radio, and television lets people see the new right when it is reported. This issue is a bad one for Simon. Another similar to this one is when Simon tells the media that, “they have to climb the mountain of conflict.” Since, technology is so advance everyone in the world can hear what Simon just said. A disadvantage that it causes has to do with the vote on whether, or not to invade the Middle East. Since, the creation of technology it allowed for the media to get a hold of Liza’s paper, which they wouldn’t have been able to do otherwise. This causes a problem, Malcom has to try, and get the vote changed three different time, so that the paper doesn’t influence the way the voters will vote. Since, Malcom has the vote time changed three different times, it causes stress on him, and the voters, but it also cause confusion among the voters, because they don’t know when exactly the vote is taking place.
