I am currently working for the post office as a city postman. This position requires a person to be totaled aware of the surrounding, weather, and timing. Timing is very critical and pressure in this job because that would determine if the carrier can have lunch, miss lunch or come back late that day. I t is very pressure to be delivering mail when it’s getting dark and driving or walking on the road with raining or icy weather. Not only that this job has a lot of pressure has it also required the carrier to work and performing according to the law and regulation. Handling mail wrongly can end up being charge with a criminal offense by the federal.

Prior to become eligible for this position, candidate must past a post office battery exam which places a person on the scale of how suitable they fit for the job. After the exam candidate are then conducting an interview and a background check. After all the result is good, then the final step is that the candidate need to past a drug test. What I dislike about the job is that timing is very pressure and sometime in order to get job done we have to skip lunch and break. Because the mail volumes are always different each day, it is very difficult to anticipate what would happen that day. For example, Monday mail volume would always be a highest because the post office closes on Saturday and Sunday, therefore; it holds the mail until Monday than it delivery all at once. As the weather in Washington state changing and day light saving it is more difficult to deliver mail. In the winter, the day gets darker faster in the evening and more rain than the summer time. Because winter has many holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, therefore; mail volumes are really high because people send gift cards and gifts to family members and
