Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Research Paper

Thousands of veterans suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, also called PTSD. Many of them have committed suicide from the pain of the disorder but many are also alive fighting through it. As a PTSD poster states “Having PTSD does not mean you are broken. It merely means you were put to the test and didn’t fall apart”. Studies show that only about half of the veterans who need mental health care seek treatment, some people get treatment from getting prescribed medicine, support animals or therapy.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a big deal and more than half of the veterans who were in war have PTSD. Some doctors come up with the idea that a support dog might help them with the problems they have. And with them not wanting to go out and do things with their friends and family, and the problem with having pets in the house is sometimes people may be scared of them, allergic, or just don't want to take care of them (Barrett).“The problem with animal assisted therapy is that a lot of people have allergies, and they don’t want to take care of a pet,” says Bethel. “Or they’re afraid of them” (Barrett). “Stuffed animals, meanwhile, can “keep people in the here and now,” Bethel says, but don’t offer the engagement that their living equivalents can. Therabot, which looks like a stuffed animal but can respond to a user’s physical cues with nuzzles, sounds, and more, without posing any sort of allergic or physical threat, hopes to bring the positive interaction without the potentially negative side effects” (Barrett). Therabot sounds like a good idea because if someone couldn't have a dog or a cat, because of an allergy, they could have a threabot because it isn't a real animal and it doesn't shed like
