Summary: After the Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen leaves on a Victory Tour around the Districts and Capitol with her pretend lover, Peeta Mellark. President Snow tells her to convince the entire country of Panem of her undying love for Peeta in order to halt uprisings in the Districts, but she fails. After the Tour, the government announces a change for the 75th Hunger Games requiring the Districts to send victors as tributes, and Katniss must enter the arena again. Her allies encounter numerous challenges in the arena and later devise a plan to electrocute the other tributes with wire and lightning. As they divide to execute the plan, Katniss is attacked by one of her allies. She then searches for Peeta but discovers an unconscious ally with

For example, if you were drowning your need for air would take priority over your need to satisfy hunger or complete a chore. Once you had air again, you could move up a level. Maslow organized the priority level of general needs: physiological, safety, belongingness and love, esteem, self-actualization, and self-transcendence needs. (Module 33) Most of the citizens in Panem are nearing or at starvation because of the government. They are trying to satisfy their physiological needs of hunger and thirst. Katniss, on the other hand, has been taught a skill that enables her to satisfy her physiological needs, so she is able to focus on higher needs like self-actualization needs, the “need to live up to our fullest and unique potential,” and self-transcendence needs, the “need to find meaning and identity beyond the self.” Katniss is able to express these needs and inspire the nation of Panem to change. Recommendation: The entire Hunger Games series are full of suspense. This book is a great book to read if you don't ever want to put it down. There is a shocking amount of violence in the books, but it helps the reader relate to the struggles of the protagonist.
