Post-Secondary Plan After High School

Post-Secondary plan
After high school, I intend to go to Cabrillo Community college. Once there, I intend to major in psychology to become a mental health counselor. I chose this because since I was a small child, I've always wanted to help people, but felt that taking a career in medicine was not something I was interested in. To do this, I will have to take several courses in general psychology, professional ethics, cognitive psychology, and counseling psychology. For each semester, I intend to take four classes, and two courses in the summertime. After my years at Cabrillo are finished, I hope to transfer to University of Berkeley, CA. I hope to transfer to University of Berkeley because after extensive research, I've found that it's

Epictetus a Greek-born philosopher was born a slave. He said, “Only the Educated are free.” Unfortunately, Epictetus did not predict that even the basics of education would not be free in the future. With the cost of post-secondary studies at an all-consuming high, and ever getting higher, many people find it hard to cope in a society where education is necessary but not available to everyone. The high cost of tuition affects not only current and future students, but their families, the labour market and Canada as a whole.…

I have two goals in life, and the second is simply an extension of the first. The first is to be completely happy, and the second is to be a clinical psychologist. Almost every college in the nation has a psychology program, but Tufts has something more. Instead of offering only general psychology to undergraduate students, this school offers a concentration in clinical psychology. I want to make the most of every year I spend in school, which I can do best by going to Tufts and majoring in clinical psychology, which will help me reach my two…

Every semester I ask myself the same three questions and the longer I have been pursuing post secondary the more I think about the costs of post-secondary in comparison to the benefits of my degree. I work part time at Bed Bath and Beyond to help my parents pay rent and keep food on the table so every time I look at class registration I always artistically stack my classes like Greek columns to grab as many hours as I can at work. My father always says that you can’t do anything without money and it’s the truth you can’t, and it shames me because the academic route I decided to take isn’t known for the Steve Jobs of the world but rather the eco-terrorists and political upstarts. Public policy has always been my passion because of the social…

Introduction: Take a second to consider what is more helpful to Canada and its citizens: Canada spending tax revenues paid by Canadian citizens on the first two years of post secondary education, or spending tens of billions of dollars on a war machine that is not even useful to us. That’s right, the Canadian government is planning on using up to $50 billion of tax money earned by the citizens on new war machines, even though there is currently no threat to Canada, the last being over two centuries ago. Does it not make more sense to provide Canadians education that could lead them to strengthening our economy? This is why I think the first two years of post secondary education should be free; the amount of debt/people with debt will be cut…

According to Canada’s department of education, 73% of high school graduates do not graduate from post-secondary education! If university or college education is free, it will encourage individuals who are attending to reach their goal of what they desire to become and give more to society. However, I encourage only those who have completed high school with an overall score of 90 should receive free post-secondary education. This will allow the students to be more grateful and strive to complete their degree. With that in mind, I strongly promote free post-secondary education to those who earned it for the following reasons; cost and living expenses are high enough, Canada is all about free education!..…

The ubiquitous nature of public schools in modern America can make it hard to fathom that it took over a hundred years from our nation’s founding for the federal government to understand the importance of funding an adequate system for public education. Currently, in the United States, a portion of the taxes collected by federal and local governments is allocated to the free education every child between the ages of five and eighteen. The current laws that only require education to be free to students until the end of secondary (high) school, were written based on outdated standards. Decades ago, when most federal laws regarding the funding of public education were written, the average adult only needed a high school diploma in order to have…
