Depression is a constant feeling of guilt, sadness, and loneliness a person carries on a day to day basis, caused by the process of too many genes working together at once creating a switch in the brain. Depression is an illness that has over three million cases per year in the US. Depression doesn’t just effect one person, it also effects the people around them. It causes a challenge for many people who have depression today because it interferes with their daily life and makes it very hard for them to stay and the right path and do what is right. Depression comes in various stages, some are more controllable than others. When signs of depression are being seen in someone they should be treated immediately to prevent damage later on in life. …show more content…
There are more severe cases of depression such as Psychotic Depression. This is when a person has severe depression and it causes a switch in the brain that makes a person delirious and also hears and see’s things that other people may not this is known as hallucinations. When a person also has this type of depression they also have a disconnection with reality. Another form of depression which is more common in the US is Post-Partum Depression which occurs after a women has given birth. After a women has given birth her hormones are still all over the place and with a newborn baby it makes it more overwhelming and sends a women into depression. Ten to fifteen percent of women experience this type of depression after birth. Seasonal Defective Disorder (SAD) is another type of depression that is seasonal meaning it comes and goes during a certain season. When looking at this type of depression it all depends on the person of how serious this type of depression can be. Usually this type of depression effects people in the winter because it is so gloomy and cloudy that it triggers the switch in the brain that creates depression.
