I feel this series shows how writers in Hollywood claim to be “social justice warriors” but instead patronize and belittles the characters and demographics they claim to be fighting for. This series is merely another example of Hollywood attempting to “stand up for women” and push a political agenda so far to the extreme, that it becomes patronizing, showing not only how little they think of women, homosexuals, and those within the criminal justice system, (i.e. the ones who work their butts off and make in a year what many in
Hollywood make in a day), but that as Americans we need Hollywood to tell us what issues we should be activists for and what views we should take on the particular issue. Anytime
Hollywood produces or invests money into a project, the intention is not one based on bringing attention to a subject and actually solving or addressing that issue, they instead want to cause a reaction and project their particular message, accurate or not. The agenda is always one of money, and not a genuine concern regardless of what is stated. Most Americans don’t want to actually know what is going on in the world, they seem very concerned on themselves, choosing to watch a tv show or hashtag some issue to “feel involved”.
