Possible Motivators: Seto’s Motivation-Facilitation Model of Child Sexual Offending This model assumes that there is both an adolescent limited path and an antisocial path similar to the above models proving that there is a strong correlation between age and crime (Brown, 2016, p. 358). This theory explains that sexual offending against children may be caused by an inability to form romantic relationships (Brown, 2016, p. 358). There are various factors that may lead to this some of which being poor economic status, lack of physical strength, social inequalities and poor genetic attributes leading to an individual as being classified as unattractive (Brown, 2016, p. 358).

There is a strong correlation between pedophilia and brain abnormalities as well as different volumes of the brains white matter. White matter in the brain deals with the recognition of visual stimuli and the nature of sexuality (Laws & O'Donohue, 2008, p. 173). Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines have been used to view and detect white matter abnormalities (Laws & O'Donohue, 2008, p. 173). Brain injuries are also associated with pedophilia and can lead to disturbed mood, sexual behavior, and aggression (Laws & O'Donohue, 2008, p. 168). Burns and Swerdlow described a case of pedophilia in 2003 where the individual had an orbito-frontal tumor (Laws & O'Donohue, 2008, p. 173). The portion of the brain that was being affected by the tumor is responsible with behavior inhibition (Laws & O'Donohue, 2008, p. 173). Once the tumor was removed, the man no longer found that he had a sexual interest in children (Laws & O'Donohue, 2008, p.
