Stress can stem from a variety of places, and the source is different for every individual. I am currently about to finish up the first semester of my senior year. Therefore, I am applying to colleges frantically, as one does. I am also going through the process of interviewing for a scholarship for college. The scholarship is called the Posse Scholarship and provides you with a full tuition scholarship to your top choice of the institutions that they partner with. In order to receive the scholarship, one must first go through a series of three interviews. By the third interview, only twenty finalists are left for each partner institution, and ultimately ten are chosen for each school. I just received the call that I am a finalist for Boston University. While this is dreadfully exciting, I surpassed the excitement very quickly as it suddenly turned to stress. I’ve been in a state of perpetual dread for the final interview ever since I got the call. To combat this feeling, I have attempted several different stress management techniques that I read in the textbook, as well as techniques that are tried and true for me. …show more content…
It aids me in releasing a lot of my anxiety and thoughts surrounding the upcoming events. After exercising, I feel very calm and level headed. After exercising, I like to meditate. I used to meditate every day, but recently I had just been too busy to fit it into my schedule. However, when I was reading through the textbook and saw that meditation is a particularly good way to cope with stress, I rebooted my daily routine. Now, pairing exercise with meditation, I have a better sense of control over my emotions when I think about the interview. I feel much more optimistic about the potential
