Just as a drop of water in a pond or lake will create a ripple effect, every action, even those lasting a split second, will cause an everlasting impact for the future. Sometimes incidents happen that are out of our control, and although they may be unwanted, the way we react to the negatives in life help shape us into the people we are. My family was not perfect; My parents fought all the time, shaking the walls with their voices. It would happen regularly, but, in no way did the recurrence make the arguments any easier to contend with. Each fight seemed to be worse than the last, and soon, my own house was no longer a place I considered “home”. Every weekday, I would dread school to end for that fact that I did not want to go home, and weekends were spent in constant fear of the next battle to happen. The question came in the middle of a fight, all three of us were quite shaken up and it caught us off guard. I was quite confused and annoyed because this type of question will impact our lives forever. My mother expected us to answer within two seconds, those two seconds will dictate the future of our lives. “I don’t know”, I replied for all of us, judging by the faces of my siblings that they were just as conflicted.
