Explain Why Positive Thinking Did Not Work For Me

Improved Essays
Why Positive Thinking Did Not Work for Me Many people believe positive thinking will lead a person to a perfect life; however, it is not completely true as it has its pros and cons. The reason why is because people request for things that they really want without really putting much effort into it and expect everything to fall into place. Today, society has gotten to the point where they make demands to God, and keep waiting to attain the stuff they asked or prayed for. For example, last year my 16 year old cousin went missing for two days. The whole family was worried and my aunt later heard there was a horrible accident near her house. As most mothers will do, she thought to herself that it was not him and prayed for him. At last it resulted …show more content…
Our defense started to slow down. The look on their faces was just horrendous. They looked like tired dogs with their tongue out. Forwards started yelling at Defenders; pointed fingers at each other. “This was all your fault!” Time went by so fast. During minute sixty-three in the game, the Rattlers had scored. Sorrow ran through our faces. Chills went down my spine knowing that their might be a twist in this game. The Tiger fan’s jaws dropped. Five minutes were left on the clock. Our team looked tired and furious at each other. Everybody went and did what they wanted to do. Midfielders stayed at the bottom of the field while forwards struggling on top of the field searching for somebody to pass the ball to. Avi Garcia lost the ball. As a result, the other team score again due to a kickback. That is when we knew everything was over. The pain in our legs was just horrible. We could not run as fast as when we started. The final whistle blew. Rattlers two, Valley View one. We had lost the district title. It felt as wicked as when you let go of someone. Coach made us stay and watch the other team cheer and celebrate their title. “We are the champions! We are the champions”, they yelled. It was the worst feeling ever. Tears started to come up. Wishing that was my team cheering I started to pull my hair of anger. Our hopes were too high, but it was because we had not tried as hard as the other team. Both teams prayed to God to help them win but, at last only one team will take the victory. It’s not about who prayed or who prayed the hardest, it’s who tried harder while not depending so much on the lord. I learned from this lesson that you cannot expect to just pray and let God do all the work. It has to be ten percent God and ninety percent you. You got to believe in yourself. Instead of saying, “Please god help me win this game”, you should say, “Please God stay with me throughout this game, I will give my

In the three essays written by Dillard, Appiah, and Pratt, they all use different examples but focus overall on the same “big picture”. They’re all part of a larger conversation, but they each stepped back and put in their own point of view on this subject. The main subject they all discuss is seeing. Dillard talks about how what people see is what they get. If they look for positivity and see positivity in everything, then they will get positivity out of it, and vice versa.…
