In “Positive Stereotypes Are Hurtful, Too” Hailey Yook argues how positive stereotypes disturb and add pressure to people’s life. First, both negative and positive stereotypes hurt people. Negative stereotypes are harmful, and positive stereotypes can be considered as over complimentary. Yook gives an example about the positive stereotypes that apply to Asian when people say “Asians are smart”. They just look at Asians, and think they are smart. They do not see the work that some Asians put in to get a good grade. Lastly, the positive stereotype can cause stresses and pressure if people can’t meet the expectation.
