Positive Reinforcement Plan

Improved Essays
Good morning,

Thank you for your quick response. I appreciate your willingness to share how you implement a plan at home for Caleb as well as discussing with Caleb how he can improve on his social-emotion learning at school. It seems like Caleb is motivated to demonstrate a cheerful attitude when completing a task through earning stickers at home for a reward on the weekend.

I would like to begin implementing the positive reinforcement plan we discussed with him at school beginning this Monday. It seems as though you, Mrs. Danysh, and Caleb have discussed a motivating reward for him at home (earning money for a savings account). Beginning this Monday, I will continue to closely monitor Caleb and give him opportunities to be challenged to

There are two categories of reinforcement; primary and secondary. Primary reinforcers are food, drinks, and things that provide happiness; they do not have to be learned. These primary enforcers are considered biological, or something that occurs naturally. Primary reinforcement is often referred to as unconditional reinforcement. Experiences and genetics can affect how reinforcing things are.…

In Richard Lavoies the Motivation Breakthrough: 6 Secrets to Turning on the tuned-out child proves techniques and strategies based on six possible motivational styles that will revolutionize the way parents and teachers inspire kids with learning disabilities to succeed and achieve. It promotes better communication, improvement through goals, and respect of the student. It provides an idea rather than the reward system. I think the value of this book lies in teaching people that what motivates them does not necessarily motivate their kids or any other person for that matter. That some information provided for parents should be read by the teachers and some provided with practical information only for teachers to use in their classrooms should…

Have We Fallen Short? Motivation is something we create with students, not something we do to them, Rick Wormeli. I was encouraged by a friend to read and article by Rick Wormeli called, Perserverance and Grit. Wormeli sees the intelligence, potential, and capability our adolescence possess now days, but why do they quit when it gets hard, why is their patients so short- lived, and why do they rarely reach their full potential? I encounter all sorts of adolescents every day, not including my foster boys, each one is unique in their own personality, culture, and diversity.…

Explain your understanding of the rationale for this EBP model. My time as a case manager, in a harm reduction program for homeless veterans has allowed me to have weekly sessions with a client for over two months now. The client is an Army vet with a history of substance abuse secondary to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). In my effort to asses the client’s mental health on a weekly basis, I took notice in how the Feedback Informed Intervention (FIT), provided a unique opportunity for me and my client. Boswell, Kraus, Miller, & Lambert (2013) says there 's a moment in time when the patient and provider can look through a window together which the therapist and patient can catch glimpses into a unique world-view (Boswell, Kraus, Miller,…

One thing I picked up while serving in the U.S. Army was the 5 P’s: Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance. That is, whenever possible nothing should be left to chance. Coincidences happen as do chance encounters at the mall, the beauty salon, or maybe even church. According to Ivey, Ivey, and Zalaquett (2014) “Counseling & psychotherapy…have a solid research & scientific base” (p. 7) but counselors are much more than white lab coats.…

Educational Autobiography Have you ever wondered where you would be today if you did not have the education you’ve had along the way? Throughout my years my motivation has stemmed from not only my parents, family and my teachers but it has come from within myself too. I strongly believe that praise and reward can help a student who is struggling or help them with their weaknesses. Carol Dweck in “Brainology” states that a growth mindset person has better odds of becoming who they want to be in life and that their intelligence will take them far (Dweck 1).…

I have always felt the urge to help others, whether it is through community outreach activities or simply helping my peers learn a melody in my orchestra class. This is why when I was granted the opportunity to become a peer tutor and teacher's aide at my school starting my Junior year, I did not hesitate to take it. I tutor students in the resource program for one hour a day, during school, five days a week in multiple subjects including Math, History, and English. When I began tutoring, I had no idea to what extent this experience would change my outlook on my role as a tutor. For instance, one of the students I tutored was a boy named Oswaldo, who seemed to have given up on his education and did not even bother to turn his assignments in anymore.…

It is evident that people use communication as a tool of changing the behavior and attitudes of others to what they desire. One can communicate in a way to indicate they are seeking for pity or in a rude manner. The Goals-Plan-Action theory was formed to describe the process that people use to form messages. The goal tries to shed some light on the process of producing messages and the impact it has. Goals, Plans, Action theory (G-P-A)…

Cocaine as with many of illicit drugs, can be backed a theory regarding why users experiment leading to use, abuse, and may become addicted. My theory behind drug usage, in this case, cocaine, is backed behind the classical theory biological instinct – that being a psychological theory of reinforcement. It is important to understand what is meant by reinforcement theory – which can be split into two categories. The first, being positive reinforcement. Positive reinforcement “occurs when the individual receives a pleasurable sensation and, because of this, is motivated to repeat what caused it” (147, Theories of Drug use).…
