The very first day of school can be the scariest day in a child 's year. But once they become accustomed to the way that things work, doors begin to open and they form an early love for education. Early education is crucial not only to the child/student but to the society in which they are to become adults in. Because many parents do not know of certain early childhood education (ECE) programs that cater specifically to low income areas, they do not see the importance of having their children enrolled. As a result their children do not recieve the fullest level of education our system has to offer. PreK is important because it opens the child up to the idea of education and being in a classroom environment.

There are also some promising methods to maintaining the mental development of infants and toddlers who come from from disadvantaged situations in life. PreK is important because it opens the child up to the idea of education and being in a classroom environment. Early education is crucial not only to the child/student but to the society in which they are to become adults in. These children are going to become working adults in the future. There needs to be a more aggressive approach on the issue of low enrollment rates in early childhood education programs.

Many studies have found that ECE programs directly affect the child’s success in later grade levels. Latino children who are enrolled in high-quality ECE programs showed a dramatic in intellectual and language learning skills. It has been shown that these are two specific areas that predict readiness for kindergarten. The benefits of preschool are particulary important for chidren who come from low-income families. These children tend to start kindergarten up to a year behind their peers and struggle with reading and language skills. This struggle will manifest itself throught the child’s entire school

There is also the question of what the quality of service being provided to these children actually is. The unbalance in the educational service provided and the results achieved highlinght the issue of equal access to ECE programs. Increasing the access to high quality ECE programs is deemed one of the most logical investments. The ultimate goal if many early childhood education organizations is to enable every four year old Latina/o to enroll in a high quality preschool program. We can achieve this goal by providing knowledge of local ECE programs to Latino
