Introduction
Video games have become one of the most common forms of entertainment over the recent past. This has been enabled by the advancement in technology and increased use of computer as well as digital technology(McLean& Griffiths, 2013). There are many video games created and distributed all over the world through the internet or media that enables many people to play them over computers and other enabled gadgets such as mobile phones. People of different ages, including children, adolescents and adults ofboth genders are involved in video gaming. The wide involvement has raised concerns worldwide over negative effects associated with video games. There are many studies that have shown short and long term negative effects on video game

This is mainly due to the violent content that would be practiced by those exposed to participants in video gaming (Anderson, Gentile & Buckley, 2006). Most video games contain violent material and researches have estimated that about 89 percent of the video games in the market have violent elements (McLean and Griffiths, 2013). In addition, this study notes that about half of these video games involve serious types of violence inflicted towards other characters. Violent video games have various violent effects reported in many children and adolescents who are involved in comparison to those who do not participate(Allen &Eyles, 2013). Theylead to desensitization,which is the decrease or loss of empathy and physical aggression towards other children or people. This occurs as a result of repeated exposures or experiences of video games that cause dull recognition of violent stimuli in the brain (McLean& Griffiths, 2013).Video games also raise the accessibility to aggressiveness in the thoughts of players that is observed through hostile feelings in people after playing the
