Effects of Videogames on Children Videogames have progressed very rapidly in the past few decades, and have worked their way into cultures, even forming unique cultures of their own. As they progress, newer generations take a liking to them, and has now created a unique culture in which virtually every child has played at least one form of a videogame. This creates a concern for parents, worried that increasingly popular violent videogames are affecting their children, and can cause aggression and behaviors that the child does not normally display. However, negatives of videogames are often exaggerated and overstated, but new studies are surfacing revealing the positives of videogames. This paper will cover the positives and negatives of videogames, and methods that researchers recommend to keep videogames a positive impact.
