I believe that as a whole, we have become more homogenized. A term called ‘Americanization’ has risen from other countries becoming more like America. According to George Ritzer, ‘McDonalization’ is another term to describe the wide ranging sociocultural processes by which the principals of the fast food restaurants have been taking over and dominating more and more. This is a negative aspect of globalization because fast food restaurants are not a healthy choice and do not have a great amount of culture connected to it. They don’t have any culture connected it because the fast food industry is very uniformed with the way they do things. People would much rather see places that show off the countries culture of food. America should not be represented in other countries with restaurants like McDonalds or Wendy’s, even if they are cheap. Having these fast food restaurants causes serious health issues such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and juvenile obesity. The contemporary experience of living and acting across cultural borders has made the loss of both traditional meaning and symbolic expressions obvious.
