Effects of News Media
The information media has many social responsibilities. One of the social responsibilities is to spread awareness of what is going on. For instance, the media should take responsibility to spread if something that is injustice has occurred. An example of this would be the New Delhi attack. A young girl was raped, and the victims went unpunished as they were kids of very rich parents, who bribed the police to keep their mouth shut. Therefore, the media took matters into their own hands and decided to spread awareness about the injustice that was going on. They showed her story on every channel, newspaper, blog and websites. One way it is shaping up political opinion is by sharing posts on social media. Sharing stuff on Facebook is one of the most popular way of sharing political opinion. An example of this would be when people post stuff saying how one political candidate is better than another one. That persons friends may want to share it on their page and so on. Same goes for Retweeting, as people might want to tweet the same, and the persons followers would decide to retweet it. Another way media might be shaping up political opinion is when we hit the "like" button, we tend to give all the websites, social media and news channel what the public is agreeing with. Therefore, to make money they might write, post or share the content they know the viewers or readers are agreeing with. The biggest way that news media is shaping up politics is with their opinion. Channels like CNN have both Republican and Democratic view points, but news channels like Fox only have one sided view point.
